Donna Richardson

CLAHRC Assistant Director

Donna’s background is in laboratory-based cancer research at the University of Leicester, where she did her PhD and, later, postdoctoral research into breast cancer.  She then moved on to a clinical trial coordinator role before taking on the role of Manager of the newly formed National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Trent Stroke Research Network in 2006.  This involved the development of the network to eventually include over 20 NHS Trusts across the East Midlands, South Yorkshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Bedfordshire, all open and recruiting to multi-centre NIHR-portfolio stroke research trials.

From there she moved to the role of Assistant Director for the newly-merged CLAHRC East Midlands at its inception in January 2014, which encompasses the workstreams of the Centre for BME Health.
